After School Programs - Elementary

After School English as a Second Language Program:  The aim of this program is to improve students’ English language acquisition in Reading, Writing, and Oral Communication.  Starting with the basics of phonetic awareness and spelling patterns to decode and encode words for reading and writing for beginner ESL students, to learning how to read, write, and effectively communicate using simple, compound, and complex sentences for more advanced ESL students, students will develop their reading and writing skills.  Through activities such as read alouds, role playing, song, games, and presentations, students will improve their oral communication skills and develop confidence in using English.

After School Mathematics Program:  The aim is to have students develop a greater sense of confidence when tackling difficult mathematical problems, taking risks and understanding that there are multiple ways to get to a solution.  Students will learn mental math strategies and explore different mathematical concepts of their interest thereby allowing them to develop strategies they can apply when solving complex problems with numbers and words and make math connections to their everyday lives while having fun with Math!
