Computer Technology
DSC is committed to being a leader in the technology enriched delivery of the Ontario curriculum. Over the years the school has pioneered several cutting edge technology tools in the school and our current 3-year technology plan has us moving towards Web 2.0/3.0 technologies and online student collaboration.
In-Class ICT Learning Centres
Each Grade 1 to Grade 6 classrooms is equipped with an ICT Learning Centre as well as an interactive whiteboard and an LCD projector.
Computer Centres
The school has three Computer Centres that are used by students in Pre-Grade 1 to Grade 12. Each Centre is equipped with 30 desktop computers running the latest Microsoft software, an interactive white board and an LCD projector.
Mobile Computer Centres
The use of Mobile Labs assists in further enhancing the delivery of the Ontario curriculum by infusing technology across the curriculum. The school has seven Mobile Labs. Each Lab contains 15 laptops with wireless and multimedia capabilities. These Labs are used by students in grade 4 to 8.
Laptop Loan Program
All Secondary Section students have the option of signing out a Dell laptop for the school year. The School has purchased 400 laptops to support this program. The laptops are replaced every three years. The laptop is intended to be used only for school assignments, academic related research and group projects. The school has installed the required software for classes. All School laptops are maintained by the IT Department and Dell.
