Secondary Laptop Program 2011-2012

December 02, 2011

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This letter is to update you in the new Secondary Laptop Program for students in Grades 7 - 12 as of September 2012.

The School has implemented several ICT projects over the past nine months to prepare for this new program. These projects include a new Aruba WiFi network, a new Multimedia Studio with a green stage, 21st Century prototype classrooms, and a new Secondary ICT Centre complete with 3D printers and 21st Century classrooms.  In addition, over the next six months, we will be implementing an enhanced network infrastructure, a revamped Multi-Media Centre, and campus-wide  Fuji-Xerox “Follow You” printing.

In order to protect the integrity of the learning environment, the School has determined, based on research, experience, and school visits locally and overseas, that a standardized laptop is essential.  As such, all students enrolled in the Secondary Section of Delia School of Canada will be required to own one of the School-recommended laptops. Beginning September 2012, the annual Information Technology User Fee will be HK$800.

The School has been working closely with several PC vendors to secure a significantly discounted purchase price, a comprehensive warranty plan, and a hassle-free purchase process.   The School’s IT Department will provide support on campus for hardware and software issues, will coordinate with the vendor for on campus warranty and repair services, and will provide loan units when student-owned laptops are under repair. In addition, laptops purchased through the program will have access to the School’s network and centralized printing.  Only laptops purchased through this program are eligible for these benefits.

We will provide detailed information pertaining to computer specifications, software requirements, and price in February.  This information, as well as the purchasing process, will be provided at that time.

The School has invested a lot of time and resources in order for Delia School of Canada to continue to be a first class international school that has evolved from being a pioneer in the field where 21st Century Skills were taught in standalone labs to a school that integrates ICT skills into all subject areas.

Thank you for your continuing support. The School will provide updates in the upcoming months.

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee
