International Schools Sports Federation Hong Kong (ISSFHK)

"Founded in 2006, the ISSFHK is an association of International schools who have assumed responsibility to organize interscholastic athletics for member schools in a manner that promotes fair play, equal opportunity and sound educational values".

What is the "ISSFHK" and what does it have to do with DSC? The "ISSFHK" stands for the "International Schools Sports Federation Hong Kong" and DSC is one of twelve founding members. This year we had twenty two schools taking part in 15 different sporting events, and the league is expanding to twenty seven schools next year.

This year was a fantastic year for DSC. The 2009-2010 academic year saw DSC field our highest number of participants in   the league ever, with students from as young as grade 6 through to grade 12 participating in: badminton, basketball, ball hockey, cross country running, swimming, soccer and volleyball. In total we had 23 teams participating throughout the year - the most teams we have ever fielded.

Many of our teams finished in the top three in their respective divisions. Receiving a medal is not the most important part of being a cross country runner, a swimmer or a member of a basketball team.

We believe that our students learn many important life skills through working hard in practice, competing in matches, sharing the wins and losses together and having fun regardless of the outcome.
