Head of School - Dr. Jason Walter


Jason joined the DSC family in 1998 as a grade 4 homeroom teacher. Since joining DSC, Jason has held positions at all levels of leadership including Team Leader, Head Teacher, IT Manager, Director of IT, Deputy Principal and Head of School..

Jason is committed to lifelong learning and has studied at universities in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Jason holds degrees in multiple disciplines. Jason received his Bachelor of Arts (History/Religious Studies) from Cape Breton University (Nova Scotia), followed with a Bachelor of Education from St. Francis Xavier University (Nova Scotia), a Graduate Certificate in Education Technology from the University of Southern Queensland (Australia), a Master of Information Systems from University of Phoenix (USA), a Master of Business Administration (International Education) from Keele University (UK), and a Doctor of Education from Capella University (USA). In his most recent works, Jason has focused his research on leadership, staff retention in international schools, and international school student admissions. Jason is a registered teacher in 3 Canadian provinces (Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia) and in Hong Kong.  

Jason has received awards for both entrepreneurship and academics and it is within this domain where his true educational passions are found. Jason is a firm believer in educating students for the future, where they will live and work. The furture work enviornment will require people to have a keen understanding of entrepreneurship and the value of creating, developing, and inventing. This means embracing 22nd Century Learning and ensuring that every student finds their passion for learning and a drive to create, collaborate and contribute.  

Principal (Secondary) - Mr. Allan Morrison 

Mr. Morrison has more than 20 years’ experience as an Ontario certified teacher, school administrator, education advisor, and regional education officer (with ICT specialization). He served as a teacher in Ontario (Canada) and teacher/Senior Leadership Team member in Tokyo (Japan) before joining Delia School of Canada in 2013 and serving as Deputy Principal of either the Elementary or Secondary sections since then.  

In terms of educational background, Mr. Morrison has earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Guelph, a Master of Arts (Political Science) from McGill University, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Business Administration from Keele University (UK) with a specialization in Education Leadership. Mr. Morrison also holds the credentials of a fully qualified Principal from the province of Ontario. As a believer in lifelong learning, he is currently working towards a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and is a doctoral student at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto.  Mr. Morrison has had academic articles on leadership studies published in leading peer-reviewed education journals.  

On a personal note, Mr. Morrison originates from Ottawa, Ontario. He has been married for more than 25 years to his wife Natalia and has one son who is a graduate of Delia School of Canada and has just graduated from the University of Toronto. In his free time, Mr. Morrison enjoys travelling and photography. 

Principal (Elementary) - Ms. Adrianna Mahoney

Adrianna Mahoney joined Delia School of Canada as a Middle School teacher in 2011. As a Homeroom, Drama and Dance teacher, she set her focus on increasing student interest in the Arts and 6 years ago, became the Arts Department Head. Soon after, Adrianna was appointed as the Middle School Team Leader where she gained her leadership experience with the Ontario Elementary curriculum and led 12 different subject teachers for 5 years. In addition to her work in Middle School, Adrianna also spent three summers at Delia teaching academic English courses and eventually moved into High School full-time where she led the Grades 7-12 Arts Department and taught both English and Drama. Adrianna spent her final year in Secondary as the Vice Principal, and is looking forward to working with the Elementary teachers and students in the upcoming year. Through her Master in Education (MEd) in Leadership in Learning, Adrianna continues to apply current research-based methods to her leadership approach. 

Adrianna’s passions lie in the arts, literature, diversity, mental well-being and teaching the whole child. She earned her Bachelor of Education from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Windsor, is a Dramatic Arts Specialist, and is an IB certified educator.

Vice Principal (Secondary) - Dr. Jonathan Comeau

Dr. Jonathan Comeau grew up in a small town in Nova Scotia, Canada where he developed a passion for playing hockey and baseball. He brings almost 10 years of scientific research experience and 10 years of teaching and leadership experience to the Vice Principal (Secondary) role at Delia School of Canada. 

Teaching has always been at the forefront of Dr. Comeau's academic experiences. He was fortunate to work with several professors who were inspirational mentors during his undergraduate and subsequent Ph.D degrees. These mentors were great research scientists, but they were also great teachers. 

Before focusing on a career in secondary education, Dr. Comeau published many peer-reviewed chemistry and biophysics articles in collaboration with scientists from around the world. These experiences shaped who he is as a teacher and leader, one who is committed to helping the Delia School of Canada community work together to provide the best all-round education for our students.



Vice Principal (Elementary) - Mr. Mark Gillis

In 2003, Mark Gillis began his teaching career at Delia School of Canada.  Mark has been an educator for sixteen years, teaching at various Primary and Junior elementary grades.  In 2014, he became the Head Teacher of the Elementary Section and in 2016, the Vice Principal.

Mr. Gillis holds a Master of Business Administration from Keele University (UK).  He completed a program of teacher education from the University of Maine (USA) and has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Dalhousie University (Canada).  Mark is an Ontario Certified Teacher and the link to his OCT page is https://www.oct.ca/findateacher/memberinfo?memberid=537798.

Originally from Truro, Nova Scotia, Mr. Gillis, his wife Elena and son AJ call Hong Kong their home.  To go alongside teaching children, Mark’s passion is traveling the world with his family.



Vice Principal (Admissions) - Mrs. Sarah Miles 

Sarah Miles joined Delia School of Canada in 2007 as a Grade 6 homeroom teacher.  Following her time teaching Grade 6 Sarah Miles taught English as a Second Language to Grade 7 & 8 for the next 3 years. In 2013, Sarah led the Second Language Department as the Head of Second Languages. Sarah continued in leadership positions at Delia School of Canada such as the Head Teacher (Alberta Program) and is currently the Vice Principal (Admissions) at DSC.

Sarah Miles holds a Masters of Education (Leadership in Learning) from the University of Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada. She completed her Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor (Ontario) with a Specialist in Special Education and has a Bachelor of Arts (Social Anthropology) from Dalhousie University (Nova Scotia), Canada. Sarah is a registered teacher in Ontario, Alberta, Prince Edward Island and Hong Kong.

Sarah has a passion for lifelong learning and enjoys spending spare time with her family. Sarah has two children, ages 5 and 7 who both attend Delia School of Canada. 



Head Teacher (Elementary) - Mrs. Rebecca Marans 

Mrs. Marans began her formal teaching career in Toronto in 2004. She spent 15 years as an elementary
school teacher in Canada, working with students grades four through seven. She has a Specialist
Certification in Media Literacy and holds teaching qualifications in the Primary, Junior and Intermediate
grade levels. She was a Division Head and was deeply involved in student leadership and student success
initiatives. She holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees, one in English and one in Psychology, from McMaster
University. She earned her Bachelor of Education from York University, and is currently completing her
Masters of Education. She is a strong proponent of inquiry-based and cross-curricular learning. Having
spent time in Hong Kong as a student herself, she made the decision to bring her family back to Asia and
has been Head Teacher of the Alternative Program at DSC since 2018.

Her husband of 16 years is a photographer and her son is a Middle School student at DSC. They are an
adventurous family who enjoy traveling and, during a year’s sabbatical, visited over twenty countries across
three continents together. Mrs. Marans is a fitness and health enthusiast who practices yoga and runs in
her free time. She also loves hiking in Hong Kong and trying out different foods. She is passionate about
social justice and aims to use her role as parent, teacher, and leader to develop and mentor global citizens
who will promote inclusiveness, equity and justice.
